Lack of snow in usual pickup areas

MARQUETTE -- The warm weather we experienced in the last few days has made it difficult to snow cover the UP 200 starting gates on Washington Street.

Oberstar Construction, the contractor in charge of the project, says the warm temperatures have caused them explore new areas to pick up snow.

Traditionally, most of the snow comes from areas near the Marquette Mall and Lower Harbor Mattson Park.  However, early Friday, crews had to move to Founder's Landing in search of more snow.

They estimate about 60 truckloads of snow have been laid in total on Washington Street from Front Street to Fourth Street, a process they estimate to take seven hours.
