NEGAUNEE -- Holy cow!
Fifty-seven degrees at the National Weather Service in Negaunee on February 16. That's a new record for the date.
A bank thermometer in Marquette hit 60 degrees by 2 p.m.
What happened?
"Well, the clouds cleared out by early morning," said TV6 meteorologist Karl Bohnak, "and we had full sun all day. It just kept warming up."
But get ready for a change--high winds, especially around the Keweenaw and Munising, by Friday along with cold temperatures. Bohnak says we'll wake up to temperatures around freezing on Friday, and then they'll likely drop during the day.
Racetime for the UP 200 and the Midnight Run? Expect about 20 degrees.
No serious snowfall is expected in the U.P. at least through the weekend.
