Two weeks after the blog threat, no suspects have been arrested
MARQUETTE -- It's been two weeks since Northern Michigan University was shut down because of a threat posted on an anonymous blog, and no one has yet been arrested.
The FBI in Marquette told uppermichiganssource.com it won't comment on the investigation.
NMU officials are limited in what they can say and what they know.
"It's an ongoing investigation," said university spokesperson Cindy Paavola. "The FBI is in charge, assisted by NMU Public Safety and Police Services as needed. They have leads. That's all I can say."
NMU's campus was shut down on Wednesday, February 2, after university officials learned of a Website in which an anonymous person threatened to do harm to NMU students and employees that day.
Subsequently, public and private schools in Marquette were also shut down, and students were sent home early.
The initial investigation led to a "person of interest," but officials later discounted that person as a suspect.
