This was the 18th year for the softball tournament at the Superior Dome
MARQUETTE -- The final day of the annual Marquette Jaycees Winter Classic Softball Tournament wrapped up Sunday afternoon.
Twenty-four teams from all across the Midwest participated in this year's tournament held at the Superior Dome.
This was the 18th year for the event, which raises money for the Special Olympics.
Most of the players here say their teams make sure to return each year.
"Just the fact that it's for the Special Olympics. It's a lot of fun, a competitive tournament, and we enjoy it," says Chris Russell of Plymouth, Wisconsin.
"Just anything to help out the Special Olympics. It's a good time to be able to come into the Dome, and it's a good time to get away, too," adds John Koval of Grand Rapids.
The Jaycees were hoping to raise $10,000 from the tournament.
