Jewelry is one of the traditional gifts for Valentine's Day, but there's another gift that's just as sweet and a little less expensive
ESCANABA -- Jewelry is one of the traditional gifts for Valentine's Day, but there's another gift that's just as sweet and a little less expensive.
Each year for Valentine's Day, Sayklly's Candies in Escanaba produces more than 20,000 pounds of chocolate. That chocolate is sent all over the U.P.
The most popular choice is milk chocolate, specifically, the pecan snappies. That's followed by dark chocolate, then white chocolate.
Workers have wrapped up production of this year's chocolates for Valentine's Day.
"We like to give them something that's gratifying, and the chocolate we utilize is very good, and it is gratifying," says Sayklly's production manager Michael Kobasic. "It's very nice that they think about us. We work very hard to get their appreciation."
The workload never stops at Sayklly's Chocolate Factory.
In just weeks, they'll start production on candies for the Easter season.
