MARQUETTE -- The U.P. 200 is just a week away, and excitement is building for the annual sled dog race.
It started with the unveiling of the new trophies Friday afternoon.
Members of the Upper Peninsula Sled Dog Association showed off the first place trophies for the Midnight Run and U.P. 200 races at the Mining Journal offices in Marquette.
There was also another item on display, new this year.
"It's a fund-raiser for the U.P. 200, but it has big significance because it is an etching on marble of Jeffrey Man, the founder of this race in the first race, coming back into town and it's a fabulous piece," said UPSDA President Pat Torreano.
The piece of art costs $500 and is one of a kind.
All proceeds will go toward the race.
The trophies will be on display at the Mining Journal offices until Wednesday.
