MICHIGAMME TOWNSHIP -- A Wisconsin man is dead after apparently crashing into a tree while on the trail in Michigamme Township, according to Michigan State Police.
Troopers were called out to trail number eight near County Road IDA around 11 Thursday night.
When they arrived, they found 48-year-old Mark Herrin of Waunakee, Wisconsin. A fellow snowmobiler called in the crash.
Troopers believe Herrin lost control of the snowmobile on a curve, hitting a tree.
Excessive speed is believed to be the only factor in the crash.
