It was a way for residents to meet various departments

MARQUETTE -- With so many different departments and committees that run the city of Marquette, it can be hard for residents to get to know everyone.

But with new administration in place, officials were hoping to ease that gap.  The first-ever city open house was held Thursday at the Lakeview Arena.  Various departments, such as Public Works, the police, and the Downtown Development Authority, were all on hand to greet guests.  Organizers felt it was a great way to introduce city officials.

"So people can come in and ask the questions they want to ask.  They can talk to various departments, they can talk to our partners.  We've got committees and boards represented here so people can come in, ask questions, meet us, and see what we do," explains Parks and Recreation Coordinator Cindy Noble.

Thursday's open house also featured a tour of Lakeview Arena and a bike raffle.
