ISHPEMING -- An Ishpeming man will be sentenced next month after making a plea in an assault case.

In September of 2010, Duane Valella was arrested after an altercation with police.  One officer was punched and a second officer was kicked in the face, causing him to hit a cabinet and lose consciousness.

The Ishpeming Police officers were helping EMS personnel who were at a Cedar Street home where Valella was apparently suffering from a heart attack.

On January 21, 2011, Valella plead guilty to resisting and obstructing an officer causing injury and assault.

His sentencing is scheduled for March 11.
