MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- A Minnesota woman who tried to mail a puppy to Georgia is trying to regain custody of the dog.
The 39-year-old Minneapolis woman was charged with animal cruelty after postal workers discovered the four-month-old Schnauzer mix in a sealed box that had no air holes.
Authorities say the puppy would likely not have survived if it was shipped.
The Star Tribune says Stacey Champion will try to convince an administrative hearing officer on Monday to return the puppy to her.
Champion had to pay about $250 in fees for the city to kennel and care for the puppy, named Guess.
