IRONWOOD -- Jets will soon be taking off from the Gogebic County Airport.

Frontier Airlines has been chosen to provide jet service to Milwaukee via Rhinelander.

Frontier will replace Great Lakes airlines which also provided service to Milwaukee.

The Department of Transportation approved a two year, nearly 3.1 million dollar contract for Frontier's service.

The airport manager says the addition will take their airport to new heights.

"They have many destinations for our traveling public, and they're also slated as a low cost carrier so prices will be very enticing to our traveling public," said Airport Manager, Duane Duray.

Duray says each jet will hold 37 passengers and will have more comfortable accommodations.

Frontier service is expected to begin sometime in mid-April.
