MACKINAC ISLAND (AP) -- The Richard and Jane Manoogian Mackinac Art Museum is hosting two contemporary art and photography contests with cash prizes at stake.

The first is coming up July 15 through October 9.  It's called the Contemporary Art Exhibition.

Robert J. Wilbert is professor emeritus in the Department of Art & Art History at Wayne State University and will choose pieces.  He also will select the "Gold Medal" winner, who gets $2,500.  The second-place winner gets $750 and the third-place winner $500.

Entries must be postmarked by May 16.

The museum also is hosting a new Mackinac Island Photography Exhibition starting August 1.  Prizes are $500, $350 and $150, and entries must be postmarked by June 1.

All entries must be related to Mackinac Island.

Details of both contests are posted online.
