MARQUETTE -- Organizers of the U.P. 200 are offering up the race course, mile by mile.
The U.P. 200 Sled Dog Association is asking residents and businesses to purchase one or more of the 240 miles of sled dog course at $125 a piece.
The money goes to help pay for the purse for the race and other fees incurred during the planning process.
Organizers say purchases are down from last year and want to remind residents of the importance of the race to the community.
"I think that it's important for the community to get together and help support an event like this because it's a very positive event," said Linda Storms, Mile Club Coordinator. "It's something kids and families, anybody of any age, can enjoy watching."
