MARQUETTE -- Upward Bound is a program which provides a chance for high school students to prepare for higher education.

Recently, 10 students and their family members attended a financial aid workshop through the Upward Bound program where they learned how to apply for financial aid for college.

Throughout the year, Upward Bound staff members also conduct monthly workshops in areas such as study skills and habits, test taking skills, career exploration, and much more.

"Our goal is to take underprivileged students from families that typically aren't going to college, to get them motivated and to give them the skills that they need to be successful when they do get to college," said Program Director Jeff Gagnon.
