ISHPEMING -- The Noquemanon ski weekend is almost here, and the City of Ishpeming is getting in the spirit with a cross country ski event of their very own--the 13th annual Torch Light Trek Youth Ski Event.
It will take place Thursday from 6 to 7 p.m. on South Main Street in Ishpeming. There is no fee to participate.
You can bring your own equipment or Wilderness Sports will provide free youth ski rentals. Snacks and refreshments will follow the event.
"Skiing is kind of a natural thing with our area,” said organizer Bob Hendrickson. “And we really want to encourage kids to come out and participate and just try this, you know, this sport, on really just a fun basis.”
The event is sponsored by the Ishpeming Business Association, the U.S. Ski & Snowboard Hall of Fame, and several other Ishpeming businesses.
