Two teens were seriously injured in the incident

MARQUETTE -- A 24-year old Negaunee woman charged with two counts of operating while intoxicated causing serious injury has been sentenced to 18 months to 5 years in prison.

Krista Elizabeth Pietila caused a head-on collision in Marquette Township in July of last year.  Two downstate teenagers were seriously injured and hospitalized at Marquette General.

Prior to the incident, Pietila had received five substance abuse charges, including one drunk driving charge and three minor in possession charges.

The teens involved in the crash appeared in court Friday and read victim impact statements.

Pietila must pay restitution for the teen's medical and vehicle costs, as well as court costs.
