ESCANABA -- Thursday night, the William Bonifas Arts Center in Escanaba will be hosting a sweet and caffeinated fund-raiser to bring smiles to those in need of dental care.

It's called Desserts First, and proceeds raised will benefit the Carefree Dental Clinic, which is a free dental care organization started by Delta County dentists.

Area dentists provide procedures such as cleaning and dental restoration.

Smile Center Dental Hygienist, Vickie Marshall, pointed out that the dental care caters to patients who are under-served dentally and have no insurance.

"We really have helped to lessen the load of some of the walk-in clinics and the emergency room that was the only availability to the patient prior to the clinic being opened," said Marshall.

Tickets are $30 and can be purchased at Sayklly's and Jacobs Smile Center as well as at the door.

Desserts will be provided by Stonehouse, Pacinos, and Cake Sera Sera.
