MARQUETTE -- Pirates and princesses were running around the U.P. Children's Museum Thursday.

The second Thursday of every month, the museum hosts an evening of family fun.

January's theme?  Princesses and pirates, of course.

At the event, kids and parents had the chance to do crafts, eat ice cream, and show off their costumes.

Organizers say it's a great way to bring families together.

"The whole purpose of it is to get families to come somewhere and have fun together and it's non-competitive, so it's just making little creations and enjoying each other and having fun, and it's all within a theme," said Museum Director, Nheena Weyer Ittner.

The monthly creative series events are free for guests and members of the U.P. Children's Museum.
