LANSING -- An anonymous winner traveled to Lansing on Monday to claim the December 22, 2010 Classic Lotto 47 prize worth $6.5 million

The winning Easy-pick ticket was purchased at EZ Stop, 975 Ontario Ave., in Marquette.

This is the second large Classic Lotto 47 prize sold in the Upper Peninsula in almost as many years.  The Island Dreamers Lottery Club of Newberry claimed a $12.7 million jackpot prize from the July 2, 2009 drawing.

Over 94 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players, and commissions to retailers.  In fiscal year 2010, the contribution to schools was $701.3 million.  Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $15 billion to education in Michigan.
