Saturday opening
KEWEENAW COUNTY -- All of this week's snow has been a welcome sight at Mount Bohemia.
The Keweenaw's extreme ski hill is set to reopen Saturday after temporarily closing because of last week's thaw.
Workers have been observing conditions on the hill all week and say that it should now be fully covered.
At least a foot of lake effect snow fell in the past few days, and it was a big help because Bohemia doesn't groom or make snow.
"We're going to have wonderful snow," said Dave Hawkinson of Ski Patrol. "The Keweenaw always provides good snow. It's some of the best skiing you'll ever have. It's a great time up here at Mount Bohemia."
Ski Patrol will make sure all of the runs are ready before reopening Saturday.
They expect it'll be the start of another long and successful season at Mount Bohemia.
