EWEN -- Upper Michigan's Source learned more about a deadly house fire in Ewen over the weekend.
An elderly man was killed in the fire.
The Ewen Volunteer Fire Department responded to a fire on North Polvi Road at 9 a.m. Sunday morning. Firefighters say the building was completely burned out with only a few hot spots remaining when they arrived.
After investigating the scene, they found the body of 87-year-old Royce Peterson in the northwest corner of the home.
"He lived further out in the country where there is no...the closest neighbors are nearly a mile away, and the house was surrounded by trees, which concealed the house," said Ewen Fire Chief, Dan Staf.
Investigators believe the fire was accidental, but they're still trying to determine the exact cause.
