It was such a hit last year, they made it an annual event: the Sisu Ski Fest in Ironwood

IRONWOOD -- For $80, men and women can compete in 42K and 21K classic and free style cross country ski races.  Those who are not racers can participate in a Taste and Tour for only $25.

The races start at ABR Ski Trail and end in downtown Ironwood.

And although the race has no link to the Finns, the Finnish word, sisu, says a lot about the race.

"Sisu is a Finnish word that means guts determination, you don't give up, and it's a perfect word for a ski marathon," says president Pam Kauppila.

In only its second year, the ski marathon has become a qualifier for the Berki cross-country ski marathon.
