MARQUETTE -- The Marquette Senior High School Hockey and Figure Skating teams hit the ice with some children and parents for their annual "Skate with the Redmen" night.
The hockey team and figure skating team provided instruction for new skaters as well as just having fun.
The event was free and open to anyone four years old and up; all skaters needed was a pair of skates and a signed waiver.
Organizers say it's just a good way for the hockey and figure skating teams to meet the public and have fun.
"It's fun thing for people to come out and learn how to skate. We've got a lot of talented skaters in the area, and just for people to come out and have a good time with the skaters that they see," said MSHS Figure Skating Coach, Amy Wisely.
In addition to the skating, the event also served as a can drive for local food pantries.
