Donation credits for 2010

MARQUETTE -- There are only a few days left in the year, and if you're still thinking about donating to a charity, the Marquette County Community Foundation has an incentive to do so.

Donations through the foundation are eligible for a significant state tax credit.  For instance, a married couple that donates $400 will end up only spending $60 once they receive the credit.

Donations can be made to the charity of your choice, and foundation members say it serves a dual role.

"So you're not only donating to the Community Foundation and receiving the benefits of the credit and the deductions, but you're also able to help those in need and help in an area in which you are passionate about," said Carol Touchinski of the Marquette Community Foundation.

To make donations, you can call the Marquette County Community Foundation at (906) 226-7666, visit their office in Lakeview Arena, or check out their website.
