Tim Hallock won his first fight in 37 seconds and will fight again January 6 in Green Bay
IRON MOUNTAIN -- Five years ago, Tim Hallock wandered into a gym with little knowledge about mixed martial arts. Now he's training for his second professional fight with the promotion Combat U.S.A.
In his first fight in August, Hallock knocked out his opponent in 37 seconds and now he's ready for what's next.
"I win this, I get my name out, and then I go to the second round which is in June,” said Hallock. “I beat him, I get a belt for state champion, and then next year for Combat U.S.A., I get to fight for nationals. So once I fight for nationals, that can lead up to the UFC possibility."
Hallock comes to the garage of his trainer Bruce Erickson five days a week.
Erickson has been working with the 23-year-old fighter since he was a teenager. He said Hallock has all the tools to be both a great fighter and a great person.
"I've had a ton of guys, and Tim's got the right attitude, he really does,” said Erickson. “He's got a good heart, he's dedicated, he works hard, and he's always there to help out other guys in the gym."
Hallock said one thing drives him through the daily grueling workouts.
"Just being the best. Being one of the best I can be and beat some of the best fighters in the state,” he said. “I'm very competitive. I just get up everyday and think about fighting and trying to win."
Hallock's next fight is January 6 at the Oneida Casino in Green Bay.
