Vote for your favorite pasties
MARQUETTE -- FOX UP's week of Top Choice: Pasties kicked off Monday. We'll be featuring one of our top five nominees on our show.
Monday we took you to Lawry's Pasty Shop in Marquette. They've been serving up warm, savory pasties for over 60 years.
Four generations of Lawrys have been making pasties. It's their family business, and they've been making them the same way since the business was started in 1946. They mix together potatoes, onions, rutabagas, and beef, add the right seasoning, and then fold the ingredients into their signature flaky crust.
"We try to keep everything fresh everyday and consistent. We try to only make as much as we're going to sell so nothing sits; so they're nice and fresh when customers come in," says Pete Lawry of Lawry's Pasty Shop in Marquette.
Lawry's serves up hot pasties to regulars and tourists alike, but they also ship them frozen all over the country. In the month of December alone, they shipped over 1,000 pasties for Christmas.
