But for one pastor in Upper Michigan, the birthday in the sermon wasn't the only birthday in the building

AU TRAIN -- Father Christopher Gardiner of the Sacred Heart Parish of Munising turned 68 Saturday.

But he didn't take the day off to celebrate his own birthday.  He held several Christmas services, including the noon mass at the St. Therese Mission in Au Train.

He says that sharing his birthday with Jesus is just a part of the mystery of faith.

"You know, I suppose as life evolved, as I got older, that certainly was an incentive to think more deeply," says Fr. Gardiner.  "And I think it did, in time, lead to my call to the priesthood, no question."

Father Gardiner, a Zimbabwe native, says he has no plans to retire, and is excited for upcoming renovations happening in the parish.

He planned to celebrate by just relaxing after his services were done.
