They've only been on the market for about a month, but Dave Ollila's new Backcountry Skis have been getting a positive response from all across the nation
Sunday, skiing enthusiasts were invited to test them out for themselves at a free demo.
These special skis are much wider and shorter than your average cross-country skis. They also have scales on the base for the skier to move across, climb up, and ski down deeper terrain.
And many of the people who came out for the demo were pleased with the skis.
"You still get the workout that you look for when you're snowshoeing or skiing," says Amber Johnston of Marquette. "There's a fun element. You float nicely; the downhill isn't too fast so you can control yourself when you're going downhill so you're not crazy. They were an absolute blast!"
You can find Backcountry Skis for sale at Switchback, Downwind Sports, and The Sports Rack.
