MARQUETTE TWP. -- Out of nowhere, loud music began blasting, and students from North Star Academy and Dawn Dott's Dance Studio burst into a flash dance mob.

The students have been learning about different types of dance as part of a unit in their theater class.  Saturday, they put their skills to the test to give members of the community something to smile about.

This is the first time many of the students have ever performed, and it was a great way to put on a casual performance.

"I just wanted to show the community that teens have a lot to give, too, and that I wanted to involve the community members and really get my students involved in things outside of the classroom as well," says teacher Leslie Gardiner.

More than 20 students and faculty members participated.
