MARQUETTE -- The Marquette Symphony Orchestra will be performing a holiday pops concert for the first time ever this Saturday.
The concert will include songs from the Nutcracker and The Polar Express. The Marquette High School Chamber Singers will sing White Christmas with the orchestra.
Members of the symphony say that "pops" gives the program a lighter tone that the whole family can enjoy.
"It's more light music instead of your more traditional symphony. We're not playing anything that's real heavy; everything's light. There's saxophones playing that you don't normally find in an orchestra, that you'll find with lighter music," said Betsy Grugin of the Marquette Symphony Orchestra.
The holiday pops concert is this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Kauffman Auditorium in Marquette.
Tickets are available at the box office.
