Latest news, weather, high school sports for Michigan’s Upper Peninsula

MARQUETTE -- Michelle Obama has honored two Michigan Public Libraries at a White House ceremony.

The First Lady presented the 2010 National Medal for Museum and Library Service to five libraries and five museums from across the nation on Friday.

Among the libraries honored is the Peter White Public Library in Marquette.

West Bloomfield Township Public Library is the other Michigan recipient.

Winners are chosen based on their innovative approaches to public service and improving communities.
