IRON MOUNTAIN -- When new congressman Dan Benishek takes office in January, he will have a say in two issues key to the U.P.
Benishek will serve on the Veterans Affairs and Natural Resources Committees in the House of Representatives.
He says the Natural Resources Committee was one of his top choices given the area's reliance on industries like logging and mining.
The Veterans Affairs Committee also is important to Benishek since he worked as a surgeon at the Iron Mountain VA.
Benishek will be sworn in to office January 5.
