MARQUETTE -- For years, the Forest Roberts Theater put on a production of "A Christmas Carol".

It has taken a hiatus, but members of the First Nighters Club Advisory Board will be putting on a reading of the Dickens classic starting this week.

Cast members and the director decided to ease back into bringing the play to Northern, and they thought a reading of the original was the best way.

"Going back to this day and age trying to get too complex just doesn't work, so we figured hey!" says director James Panowski.  "And people have not seen the story--this version--which has actually been adapted by the new director of theater, Ansley Valentine.  It's a great deal of fun."

'A Christmas Carol' can be seen December 15-19 at the Black Box Theatre.

Shows begin at 7:30 p.m. with 1 p.m. matinees on Saturday and Sunday.
