TILDEN TWP. -- Update: 3:45 pm Monday, December 13, 2010

The Marquette County business community was stunned Monday to learn that the snowmobiler that died on Saturday night in Tilden Township was Paul Argall, the president of PCBM Management and the developer of Country Village, a complex of 25 businesses in western Ishpeming.

"It's a huge loss for the communty," said Elizbeth Peterson, the executive director of the Greater Ishpeming Negaunee Chamber of Commerce. "He was someone who believed in Ishpeming, and he didn't just talk about it. He actually did things."

Argall, who was 59, died as he was out riding alone on a trail 3/10 of a mile from River Ridge Drive in Tilden Township on Saturday night. Another snowmobiler found him.

The Marquette County Sheriff's Department responded to the scene, and Argall was treated by Bell EMS. He was later pronounced deceased. Further details are unavailable.

"He'll be missed," said Peterson. "Everyone here feels for the family. They're a close family. Our hearts go out to them."

The funeral for Argall will be Wednesday at 5 pm at the Mitchell Methodist Church in Negaunee. Visitation will be from 2-5 pm.
