CARLSEND -- The snow has let up, but some residents of the Carlsend area off US-41 are still digging out.

Twenty-seven inches of snow hit the area, with some residents saying they saw up to three feet as they shoveled, snowblowed, and plowed throughout the day.

Multiple outings were required to keep up with the accumulation, but residents say they don't mind.

"It doesn't bother me at all to do it.  I mean it makes you feel kind of alive; you know it's nice and cold out here and you feel good.  Probably about March I'll get tired of it, but at this point, it feels pretty good," said Ed Gudewicz of Carlsend.

Residents say they were clearing the snow anywhere from an hour to six hours at a time.
