There’s a lot of things going on in Marquette County that you might not know about

MARQUETTE -- It sells itself as "for and about the people of Marquette County."

‘The Doug Garrison Show’ has been on the air since October 21, and so far, there's been no problem finding content.

“I thought we needed a local show that would highlight what people are doing, the events, and the activities,” says Garrison.  “There's a lot of things going on in Marquette County, in the area, and we really don't have a vehicle to showcase those things.”

Garrison, who is the host, wants to promote local.  So far, he's taking it one week at a time when it comes to planning future shows, but he says he's getting a lot of help.

“When we first started, we had to find the shows on our own, but now that we've been on the air for a few weeks, we're finding that people are coming to us with show ideas,” he says.

The show also gets help from Northern students.  Members of the PRSSA chapter, or Public Relations Student Society of America, get real-world experience by volunteering.

“We pretty much do anything that Doug wants us to do,” says member Mollie Anderson.  “Last week I was working the camera, today I'll be running the Powerpoint.  We do outside work, research, and other things like that for him.”

There's no limit to who can be on the show.

Garrison says up until now, it's featured inventors, entrepreneurs, and non-profits.  “Things that we think are important, interesting, entertaining; ultimately, somehow, that they affect someone's life in one way or another.”

‘The Doug Garrison Show’ tapes in front of a live audience at the Upfront and Company in Marquette every Tuesday, then the show airs every Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. on Charter channel 12.

They're always looking for ideas, too.  To learn more about the show click here.
