For almost 40 years, Operation Good Cheer has been providing Christmas gifts to U.P. children in foster care, residential treatment, and group homes
SAWYER -- Participants are any age, from infants to teenagers.
Saturday, a loaned corporate jet from downstate dropped off hundreds of presents at Boreal Aviation in Sawyer for kids in foster care across the U.P.
"It's just a really nice gesture for our kids and they're so appreciative, and you know they don't always get everything that the normal kid gets," says Jill Krah of Teaching Family Homes.
"It's a great benefit to the kids, it's a great benefit to our agency and the other agencies here in Marquette County, and it really assures that these kids will have a merry Christmas," adds Rick Sanville, CEO of U.P. Family Solutions.
This year, Operation Good Cheer provided gifts to about 4300 kids in the state.
About 200 of those were from the U.P. alone.
