CRYSTAL FALLS -- After voters rejected two millages, the Crystal Falls Township Board is now discussing what needs to be cut from the budget. Wednesday night, they met to discuss possible cuts to all departments including public works, sanitation, and the cemetery.
Voters rejected three-and-a-half mils over four years to fund the township's operations in November. They also rejected four mils in August.
Several voters voiced their concern at the meeting.
"We're going to have to decide whether we want a full service township or don't," said one resident.
"I happen to have voted for the millage, and I know many of the people here did not," added another. "We're running around trying to chip away at little tiny things here, and the point is that we have enough money, we have over years fund balance."
The township board will begin making cuts at its next meeting, December 14.
