Police believe the victim fell from a truck

NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP -- An Ishpeming man has died from what appears to be an accidental fall.

Michael Pauna, 41, was found Tuesday at 6:45 a.m. lying on his back next to his flatbed trailer at the Midway Rentals and Sales parking lot in Negaunee Township.  He was taken to Marquette General where he was pronounced dead.

A State Police investigation revealed Pauna had fallen the previous day while working in Newberry.  He returned to Marquette and was checked at the hospital.  Pauna was treated and released.

Pauna returned to Midway Rentals and Sales around 8 p.m. Monday.

Police say his injuries are consistent with falling from the semi-truck that was parked on the flatbed trailer.

Autopsy results are still pending.  No foul play is suspected.
