MARQUETTE -- The Marquette City Commission met Monday night, and the first order of business was honoring the Marquette Senior High School football team.

Mayor John Kivela presented head coach Dave L'Huillier, assistant coaches, and the players with certificates of appreciation for Marquette Senior High School's first playoff win.

The city honored the team for its hard work and how they brought the community together to root for the team.

"Marquette's a great sports town, it really is, and if you win, they will support you, and that's the biggest thing.  We've been, our program's been down, obviously, for the last couple years and even in those games, though, there was still great crowd support, there was still people there," said L'Huillier.

This was Coach L'Huillier's first year as head coach.

He was recently named the Associated Press Division 3 and 4 Coach of the Year.
