MARINETTE COUNTY -- A man suspected of robbing a bank in Amberg, Wisconsin was in custody Monday night.

Police arrested 25-year-old Joshua J. Bonin of Bonduel, Wisconsin just 12 minutes after he allegedly robbed Bank North around 10 a.m. central time.

Police were able to get a vehicle description and the car's license plate from witnesses which led to Bonin's arrest on Highway 141 in Wausaukee.

Police say they recovered all the stolen money and a weapon they believe was used in the robbery.

The suspect also wore a black ski mask during the robbery.

The incident has shaken the small town of Amberg.

"It was quite a shock honestly because things like that really don't happen a lot around here.  They have in the past, years ago but, I was just shocked that somebody had the guts enough to do that right on the highway," said local business owner Tom Oldenburg.

Bonin is also on parole for another armed robbery.

Charges are expected to be filed by the Marinette County District Attorney later this week.

On Monday at 9:59 a.m., the Marinette County Central Dispatch Center received a call of an armed robbery that occurred at the Amberg branch of Bank North.

A witness observed the suspect and the suspect vehicle leaving the area and obtained a license number and a description of the vehicle, and that information was immediately made available to all officers in Marinette County.

A DNR officer who was in the general area spotted the vehicle and followed it all the way to Wausaukee on Highway 141.  When another officer from the Village of Crivitz was set up and available, the felony stop was made and the subject, a 25-year-old white male, was taken into custody.

The time elapsed from the call to dispatch and the apprehension was 12 minutes.  These two officers were assisted at the scene of the arrest and the bank by members of the Marinette County Sheriff's Department.

Taken in the robbery was an undisclosed amount of cash, all of which was recovered as was the weapon used.

More information on this incident will be posted as it becomes available.
