A Marquette County community is coming together to raise money for one of its own
RICHMOND TWP. -- Three-year-old Aspen Larson of Richmond Township will be undergoing kidney surgery at a downstate hospital next week. She was born with a double ureter, two tubes connecting her kidney to her bladder, which causes infections in her kidney, as well as frequent urinary tract infections.
During her short life, Aspen has spent a lot of time in the hospital, and her mother says this surgery is a necessity.
Saturday, the Richmond Township Community Club hosted a spaghetti dinner and raffle benefit for Aspen, raising money to pay for medical expenses and travel.
"It's very important that all the assistance; she has no insurance at this time, so every little bit that we can raise for her will help her and her family out, to get her through this tough time," says bar manager Peggy Huffman.
Doctors don't yet know the extent of the surgery, but anticipate she'll be in the hospital for at least a week.
