MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP -- Three o'clock Friday morning wasn't too early for some shoppers at Kohl's in Marquette.
Crowds lined up in front of the retail store early as 12 a.m. waiting for the doors to open and take advantage of Black Friday sale prices.
Temperatures in the single digits did not stop shoppers who came from all around the U.P. to partake in what some see as a holiday tradition.
"It's just the excitement of being out there and kicking off the holiday season, so you just kind of get caught up in it all," said shopper, Jenny Ghiringhelli.
Kohl's wasn't the earliest to open. Walmart opened its doors at 12:30 a.m. with many shoppers saying they stopped there first, then waited in another line at Kohl's.
