GLADSTONE -- For 11 years, the Paul family has organized the annual Gladstone Turkey Trot, and this year is no exception.

Wednesday, organizers spent the day preparing for the 5K race, which begins Thursday at 9 a.m. at the Gladstone Senior Citizens Center.

The race not only benefits the Salvation Army and Saint Vincent de Paul, but the entire community.

"When you do a run/walk, people are talking and communicating with each other, not only before the race, but during the race and after the race, and it brings people in that may not ordinarily see each other," said organizer Dan Paul.

To register, all you need to do is show up between 7:45 and 8:45 a.m. and donate any amount of food or money you can provide.
