Cherry Creek students collect book for holidays

HARVEY -- As you complete your holiday shopping this year, one organization is asking you to give the gift of reading.

The Marquette Alger Reading Council is collecting new books which will be given to needy families and adults for the Christmas holiday.  Donations are being accepted at libraries, book stores, and local schools, such as the Cherry Creek Elementary School.  For the students involved, they realize the importance of sharing books with other kids.

"Because some kids don't get to read books and I don't think it's really fair that some kids don't get to read," says fourth grader Hope Kaukloa.

Her classmate Sam Kutchie agrees.  "Our classmates really feel bad for people that don't have books to read, so we think it would be nice if we could send books to them to learn how to read."

Books will be collected at the school until December 7.
