MARQUETTE -- It was just 16 months ago General Motors was struggling with bankruptcy, but this week saw the company making large financial strides.
One of the reasons for the turn is new eco-friendly vehicles, like the Chevrolet Cruze and Volt, the latter being named Motor Trend's Car of the Year.
The company posted a two billion dollar third quarter profit, boosting the initial public offering of shares by 31 percent and the price increasing from the mid-$20 range up to the mid-thirties.
Dealerships say this is due to the quality and new thinking of the company.
"We have a wonderfully strong pick-up line without a doubt in General Motors; our car line up is becoming wonderfully strong quickly, and a lot of this is the new General Motors thinking--the global community of building cars for the world," said Jim Grundstrum, owner of Frei Chevrolet.
The Chevrolet Cruze is available now, and the Volt will be released this spring.
