HOUGHTON -- The wintry weather hasn't stopped the slow Ash Mortality Team from Michigan Tech.
The group is still inspecting girdle trap trees they set earlier this year for any Emerald Ash Borer larvae.
They're keeping warm, too, thanks to an old mining building that they've been allowed to use as a temporary headquarters.
Even with a few extra workers, the slam team says they're moving slowly to make sure they don't miss any signs of infestation.
"We've been working in the field until recently. We prepared our peeling facility by hauling in a number of ash trees prior to deer hunting season. We didn't want to be in the woods for that," said Forester, Brian Feldt.
The group says they're about halfway done with the removal and peeling process and will keep working until they finish no matter what the weather.
