MARQUETTE -- The United States Postal Service had an even larger loss than expected last year of $8.5 billion.
With this in mind, innovative ideas are being used to save money. One idea is the sale of post office buildings.
One of the buildings going up for sale is the post office building in Marquette. If sold, the U.S. Postal Service wouldn't necessarily move--it would lease retail counter space in the current building. Or, the post office may lease space at a building close by which gives the potential for more parking.
Carriers would be relocated to post offices with excess workroom floor space.
