MARQUETTE -- The Marquette City Commission held its first meeting since last week's election on Monday night.  It was a reorganizational meeting for the commission.

The first item on the agenda was the stepping down of Commissioner Beth Linna, who served on the commission for five years.  The remaining commissioners thanked her for her service to the city.

The city commission then welcomed newcomer Jason Schneider, who said he hoped to bring a new perspective.

"I think I can bring a different demographical representation from the city.  I think that there's a lot of people in the community, not necessarily age-based, but in philosophy and mind set and the way they choose to live their lifestyle, that have yet to really have much representation," said Schneider.

In addition to Schneider, Mayor Pro-Tem John De Petro was sworn in for another term.

The commission also selected John Kivela to serve another term as mayor.
