MARQUETTE -- Marquette Peninsula Medical Center employees and visitors were treated to a bake sale Thursday by the Marquette Scandinavian Festival Committee.

The committee held the bake sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the medical center lobby to raise funds for next year's Midsummer Festival.

Money raised will help offset costs such as tent and site rental.  The baked goods were supplied by committee members and volunteers.

"We have everything from cookies to breads," said Bob Railey of the Scandinavian Festival.  "Breads seem unusually popular, especially the Finnish breads; lot of Finns in the area and they respond well to that."

Next year's festival is scheduled for June 25 at Presque Isle Park.
